Nightcap Notes: Live Show Diary

As I write this, it's been exactly one week since the first Necronomipod live show. In short, it turned out great and was a ton of fun… But the lead up to it was, uh, not pleasant for yours truly. I was nervous as fuck. Restless nights followed anxiety ridden days all leading up to the 11th. But we made it. And here we are on the other side.

When we first agreed to do a live show I thought it might be a fun idea to try to keep some notes throughout the day for a potential blog post. And while I did my best, there were some hours that went by where I had forgotten to jot anything down (let's blame it on the nerves), so I went back and did my best to recollect times. Beyond that, this is a pretty accurate and realistic breakdown of my day. So, take this little journey with me…

Saturday, July 11th, 2026

6:23am: Wake Up. This is early for me, especially for a Saturday. Stomach is in knots and my head feels hot. I toss and turn, but sleep isn't coming back. Nervous as fuck.

9:36am: Finally have the energy to make it to the shower. I grab a cup of coffee but have trouble keeping it down. Dry heaving begins. Luckily, I haven't eaten and there's nothing to throw up.

11:15am: I begin packing my overnight bag, podcast supplies, and a cooler. Get the car loaded up and ready to go. Can't forget my hair brush and gel! Oh, and a lint roller...

12:50pm: Arrive in downtown Cleveland and check-in to the hotel. The lady at the front desk was a little rude, until she found out I was performing at the House of Blues that night, then she wanted tickets. Sold out, lady.

1:03pm: After dropping my bags off in my room I meet up with Dave. We told ourselves we were gonna wait until closer to show time to start drinking but our nerves are a mess, a few beers might help calm us down. So, we indulge. We are soon joined by Ian and Jarrod. The beer helps, but not entirely. I could puke.

2:01pm: Time to get showered, dressed and ready. Still learning how to manage my longer hair, it takes a little time and patience. I've never been good at patience. Also the heat and humidity is not kind to long hair… Kudos to you ladies, for dealing with this everyday.

2:30pm: Arrive at the House of Blues. Time to get setup and ready to go. Holy shit this is getting real. The HOB staff were awesome to work with, by the way. I should also note that on the walk to the venue from the hotel Mrs. Dave Nomipod kindly provided me with a PB&J Uncrustable… That would end up being the only food I could stomach all day.

4:00pm: Just as the doors are getting ready to open we finish getting everything sound checked and setup, then head down to the green room. Diet Millers and bottles of water await us. But now we're just supposed to sit here and wait for an hour?! God damn, I feel like I could faint. Instead I pace.

4:40pm: I pull out my lint roller and everyone mocks me for bringing one. Then one by one, everyone proceeds to borrow said lint roller… Who doesn't love a good lint roller?

4:55pm: One last pee break before it's go time. Heart is pounding. Also do a quick hair check to make sure my "sick-flow" is flowing.

5:00pm: We are live! The crowd is energetic, loud, and ready to have a great time. Hearing them cheer for us helps to instantly kill the nerves. Time to put on a show!

5:51pm: Mid-show pee break. Who'd a thought me having to pee would make a crowd pop?! I loved it.

6:58pm: We close the show with a cheers and a cool down beer to everyone that came out and supported us. The show comes off better than any of us expected. A testament to how bad ass our listeners are.

7:18pm: After another cool down beer or two back in the green room we make our way to an upstairs bar where we plan to hang out with our listeners and have some more beers. It turns into a full blown meet and greet where we get to chat with some incredible people. It's humbling and unreal to hear how much they love the show and all the ways it's impacted their lives.

9:36pm: After a long exhausting day we finally head out of the venue, drop some stuff off at the hotel, and make our way to one of my favorite bars in Cleveland, City Tap to have a few nightcaps. The Diet Millers flow quite easily here.

12:17am: Back at the hotel and having the last few cool down beers with Jarrod. We talk about how great the night went and how awesome the crowd was.

1:15am: Shower time (Jarrod's gone, don't make this weird). It was a hot, sweaty July day. Feels good to get fresh.

2:02am: Finally time for bed. Maybe the best sleep I've had in days. Thanks for the support.

PS: I never did end up puking, so that's a win! See you at the next one...
